Discussion was held on a Draft Strategy on ICT for Community Development
A one day workshop organized by Ethiopian Information and Communication Technology
Development Agency (EICTDA) was held on the draft strategy paper on ICT for Community Development at
Ghion Hotel on January 22, 2008.
Ato Debretsion G/ Michael, Director of Ethiopian Information and Communication Technology Development
Agency who officially opened the workshop said it was indispensable to enrich the
draft strategic document by Regional and Federal ICT experts, NGOs/CSOs and others pertinent bodies.
He stressed that it was a key occasion to overcome the challenges and the problems of ICT and increase
the available opportunity to use it for development and other walks of life. It was his conviction that
ICT would play a paramount role to alleviate poverty and bring sustainable development in the country.
