  German Members of Parliament will Visit CRDA
 

The Church Development Service of Germany - Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst - EED announced that an eight to ten member delegation of Germen Parliament will visit CRDA on February 25, 2008 as part of their three days visit to Ethiopia.

According to the letter sent to CRDA the objective of the visit will be to facilitate a dialogue between the CSOs and the government on various issues which will be a baseline to reinforce the activities and the longstanding cooperation between the two parties.

This visit is part of a series of dialogues with which the cooperation between the donors’ communities and CSOs is further strengthened.

The visit will also help members of Parliament to get a comprehensive picture on the developmental progress shown in Ethiopia in general and the contribution of CRDA in particular to poverty alleviation and sustainable development endeavors.

On the half day visit to CRDA, the MPs will hold discussion with senior management team of the secretariat on various issues like Networking and Advocacy, relationship between the government and CSOs, NGOs activities in HIV/AIDS, good governance and human right

Moreover, the MPs are interested in visiting projects partly funded by EED through CRDA. The visit of the project areas will be helpful to show CRDA’s strong commitment on networking of NGOs, in poverty alleviation and sustainable development in the country.

Profile of EED

Church Development Service (Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst - EED) is an Association of the Protestant Churches in Germany. It was established in 1999. EED is legally registered in Bonn as a Non-profit organization. EED is a member of the Association of World Council of Churches related Development Organizations in Europe.

EED supports the development work of churches, by way of financial contributions, personnel involvement, scholarships and consultancy services, Christian and secular organizations. In this worldwide partnership, EED is participating in establishing a fair society. It takes and promotes action to arouse and enhance people's willingness to stand up to overcome poverty, persecution and violence.
