  CRDA Gets A New Director

Participants of the extraordinary membership meeting unanimously endorsed the appointment of a new director, Dr Meshesha Shewarga G/Tsadiqe, to CRDA, in an extraordinary membership meeting conducted at the Headquarters on March 7, 2008

Following the resignation of the former director, CRDA board had formed a recruitment committee composed of five members: one from the secretariat, two from the board and two from the members to transparently recruit a new, competent director to fill the vacant position and submit to the board and the Membership Meeting for approval. The position has been covered by an acting Director for more than six months.

On the membership meeting the Chairman of the Recruitment Committee, Ato Tesseraworq Shimels, briefed participants of the meeting that the committee had received 19 applications for the post after

two rounds of vacancy announcement. In the course of selection, two candidates withdrew their applications, others were screened out and a shortlist of six persons was obtained. After a tough process of written examination, interview, assessment of presentational skills and tracing of track records, Dr Meshesha Shewarga G/Tsadiqe was selected.

Further explanation on the recruitment process and the academic, professional background of the recruit was given and discussions followed, after which the participants of the meeting endorsed the appointment of the new director unanimously.

The committee acknowledged the board, members of the sub-committee and the CRDA secretariat for their support during the very long rigorous process of selection.

The employment of the new director will be effective within a month’s time.
