  CRDA Unveils its Roadmap

The CRDA Roadmap, designed from the critical appraisal of program areas, assessment of the implementation of the third four-year programs, recommendation of donor-commissioned evaluation and analysis of the prevailing issues of the Civil Society sector was presented to donors and partners at a Mini Donors’ Round Table discussion organized at the CRDA Headquarters on February 27, 2008.

W/ro. Samira Alhadi, A/Director of CRDA, explaining about the Roadmap to the donors said, the Roadmap mainly addressed core business issues pertaining to the principle of inclusiveness in membership, representational capacity of CRDA to the Civil Society, establishing and networking regional liaison offices, the administration of forums and other working groups. More over the Road Map devised more sustainable modalities in capacity building programs, enhancing the exchange of information and institutional promotion. The A/Director noted that managing the training facilities in a more sustainable business model, enhancing the capacity of members’ fundraising and access facilitation, etc. are the other important issues envisioned by the Road Map. It has also foreseen the potential risks and opportunities, expected impacts and budgetary requirements as well as implementation strategies.

According to the A/Director, the Road-Map will enable CRDA to follow the direction of inclusiveness towards civil society organizations of grass-root level by opening discussion on amending its memorandum of understanding with DPPA. The map further states that CRDA will build on its representational role both at Federal and regional level by opening additional liaison offices at regional states. With regard to forums, CRDA considers forums as its

operational arms and works to revitalize them. In the mean time the training service, the organizational strengthening support, staff seconding and hardware supply, which have been given as s capacity building programs will continue in a more sustainable modalities of cost-sharing mechanism.

The information service of the secretariat will endeavor to enhance the information exchange and experience sharing practice, building database and enhancing IT support system, promoting the image of CRDA and its members.

The donors expressed appreciation for the willingness to work on such core business issues and requested CRDA to fully realize the change process initiated few years ago.
