With the funding obtained from the European Union Civil Society Fund (EU-CSF), the Consortium of
Christian Relief and Development Association (CCRDA) is planning to promote best practices of its
esteemed members in the areas of networking and coordination.
In this regard, CCRDA seeks to compare best practices of members, who are engaged in facilitating and
promoting GO-NGO, NGO-NGO and NGO-CSO coordination and networking endeavors.
These networking and coordination efforts could be demonstrated through implementing development projects
or directly facilitating relationship among the above-stated three interface categories.
Thus, members who have a track record of demonstrable experience in this field can submit in two to three
pages summary of their best practices for competition.
The selected best practices, experiences and lessons are recorded and documented in video/audio format.
In addition, they would be promoted among the CCRDA members and others on the Consortium’s Good Practice
Day.
Please be informed that the deadline for submission is August 16, 2010. Members could send a 2 page
summary of their good practice through e-mail: imd@crdaethiopia.org
or tafeser@crdaethiopia.org; or can submit in hard
copy personally or through P.O. Box: 5674.

CCRDA will launch a web based (electronic discussion and experience sharing forum) among the CCRDA Forum
Members. The e-forum is financially supported by the EU- Civil Society Fund of Ethiopian Office in line
with its objective of facilitating dialogue and interface among the CSO/NGO actors. Interested members
will be registered and become part of the e- forum and comment on the subject of discussion or on any
comments and share their view and experiences. In addition to the topics suggested before members will
have the chance to suggest more topics of cross cutting nature, and will be presented for discussion.
Topics of networking and coordination are also more preferably welcome. Orientation on the technical
procedures of registration and posting comments will be given at CCRDA meetings halls.

SYMPOSIUM ON A NEW PREVENTIVE CARE PACKAGE FOR PLHIV
|

CCRDA in partnership with Vestergaard Frandsen Health Company of Switzerland organized a half day symposium
on a new Preventive Care Package for PLHIV on 18 May 2010 at CCRDA Conference Hall. The symposium was aimed
at boosting the capacity of members and to enrich their experience on the Overview of HIV/AIDS Preventive
Care Package, the current scientific development, and the challenges. The symposium demonstrated new
technologies available on preventive care package and water purification system and discussed on how to
scale up the program in Ethiopia. The symposium brought together a high-ranking speaker from HAPCO, a
senior representative from Vestergaard, and technical staff from PSI and around 106 participants from
different NGOs, UN, USAID, bilateral and multilateral agencies and is believed to strengthen collaboration
between private and NGO/CSO sector.

CRDA has re-registered as consortium of Ethiopian Residents and Foreign Charities in accordance with
charities and societies proclamation 621/2009 on February 8, 2010 and secured its re-registration
certificated bearing number 1368. The Name of the Association has been amended as ‘Consortium of Christian
Relief and Development Association (CCRDA)’.
We take this opportunity to appreciate CRDA members for their relentless intervention providing necessary
condition for re-registration.
The unreserved and proactive support of the Charities and Society Agency, along with its Directors and
Officers is worth mentioning as a historic commitment to support CCRDA and the Ethiopian civil society.
In the mean time, we request members who were re-registered but not yet submitted their copy of
re-registration certificate to submit soon.

May 17, establishment of CRDA, marked as Ethiopian Volunteers Day
|

May 17th, CRDA’s
establishment, was marked as Ethiopian Volunteers Day, for the first time
at national level, in Addis Ababa, on May 17, 2007, in the presence of
senior Government Officials, NGO representatives and other development
actors. The day was marked under the theme of “Volunteerism for National
Development”. A corner- stone was laid at a square found along the ring
road near Furi-Harbu River. This square was named as Volunteers Square.
The occasion was organized by the Ethiopian Volunteers Day Organizing
Committee established by Ethiopian Volunteers Association (EVOs) in
collaboration with Christian Relief and Development Association (CRDA),
Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), Addis Ababa Rotary Clubs and Kaleb
Instruments P.L.C.
