| |
Christian Relief and Development Association (CRDA)/Sida and its 22 project implementing partners, engaged
in the implementation of Environmental Development and Protection and HIV/AIDS prevention and control
projects supported by Sida, have signed a one year project extension grant agreement on July 10, 2009 and
August 3, 2009, respectively at CRDA Headquarter.
The grant is accessed from the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) as an extension of the
previous programs that have been supported by Sida since 2004. Dr. Meshesha Shewarega, Executive Director
of CRDA, signed the grant agreement worth a total of 9,508,510 Birr for the two programs to be implemented
in seven regions of the country. These include Addis Ababa City Administration, Amhara, Oromia, SNNP, Afar,
Somalia and Tigray Regional States.
The Program has been implemented focusing on ‘Rights-Based Approach to Development.’ In line with this
community capacity enhancement and development interventions have been taken as main intervention areas by
giving emphasis on Poor's perspective, sustainable livelihoods-based approaches, local stakeholders, and
mainstreaming of cross-cutting issues such as Gender, HIV/AIDS, Environment, Sustainability and others.
During the last five years, food security of the targeted community has been fulfilled significantly through
job creation and asset building.
