Members of CCRDA Hold 241st General Assembly

Some participants of the 241st General Assembly

Executive Director of CCRDA, Dr Meshesha Shewarega appreciated the government Charities and Societies Agency (ChSA) for revising the 70/30 directive. Dr Meshesha commended the agency at the 241st CCRDA General Assembly held on November 28, 2014. ChSA recently made amendments to Directive No. 02/2003 and according to the amendments several costs that used to be administrative were included under operational cost.

Salaries paid to nannies and health professionals that care for people living with HIV/ AIDS (PLWHA) and disabled people, and salaries paid to PLWHA and disabled employees, and also the transportation cost for transporting things that would benefit beneficiaries directly are few of the costs that fall under operational cost, as Dr Meshesha mentioned them.

Dr Meshesha on the occasion presented CCRDAĺs performance since the last general assembly and the 2015 Annual Operational Plan of CCRDA.

Also during the 241st General Assembly, Elise Jensen, Acting Deputy Mission Director of USAID, briefed the participants about USAID. She said USAID works in partnership with CCRDA members and she added it seeks to expand its cooperation and support to Ethiopian resident CSOs. She said USAID has awarded 27 grants to local CSOs totaling almost 32 million USD. She said USAID is strict on organizations it funds. And because it has small number of staff, it prefers to work with few bigger NGOs know how to deal with the fund they receive from USAID than many smaller ones.
